  • Bridges…A Community Support System announces that it will name its new building at 941 Bridgeport Avenue the Moses M. Malkin Center at Bridges, in honor of a founder of the 54 year old agency. Hannah Malkin jump – started Bridges’ capital campaign for the new building with a gift of $100, 000 in memory of her husband.

    “I am delighted to make a contribution in memory of my late husband, Moe. As a founding member of Bridges, he was very proud of the work they did,” Mrs. Malkin remarked. The funds provide the basis to renovate and expand an existing structure and connect it to the main building at 949 Bridgeport Avenue.

    “We are honored and pleased that Mrs. Malkin, a past Board member herself, so generously continues to support the mission and work of Bridges,” said President and CEO Barry Kasdan. “Mrs. Malkin’s gift in honor of her late husband provides a great start to our efforts to raise some $300,000 to complete the project. We hope that this lead gift will encourage others to give generously.”

    Bridges was also allocated $600,000 in state bonding funds to support the expansion, which will assure the delivery of services to a growing population of children, adults and families who come to Bridges for assistance.

    Once completed, the facility will house a new reception and waiting room areas. It will also have new intake and emergency services areas, as well as offices for clinicians and medical staff. In addition to the added office space, the three Bridges buildings at 957, 949 and 941 Bridgeport Avenue will comprise a campus of upgraded property with increased parking and enhanced landscaping on the Bridgeport Avenue corridor between Route 1 and downtown Milford.
