Mental Health First Aid

  • What is Mental Health First Aid?

  • Similar to CPR training, Mental Health First Aid training gives an individual who does not have clinical training or experience the information and skills to assist someone who is experiencing a mental health crisis.

Mental Health First Aid is an internationally recognized, 12-hour certification course to help people in the workplace, at school or in the community better understand mental illness and respond to psychiatric emergencies with the knowledge necessary to be of vital assistance.

  • Mental Health First Aiders learn skills to respond until a professional is on the scene.
  • Mental Health First Aiders learn to apply a 5-step plan to:

    • Help someone through a panic attack
    • Engage with someone who may be suicidal
    • Support a person experiencing psychosis
    • Help a person who has overdosed
